Luminosity: The Platinum Prints by Myron Zabol.
Exhibition runs thru May 11, 2008

Spring has arrived at last. And the never-ending shoveling days have become memory and history. We welcome May by staging five photography exhibitions, all are part of CONTACT 2008 relating to the theme of "Between Memory and History".

LEE Ka-sing Gallery, now on the ground floor, introduces Korean artist Sang-Taek Oh's epic like photo series entitled PROCESS. Majestic, bold and eccentric, these constructed photographs carry an abstract but very basic language that deal with isolation, group memories and amnesia. See it before it ends this Sunday (closed at 3:00pm).

At the same time, INDEXG features Myron Zabol's exquisite platinum prints in an exhibition entitled Luminosity. It features a selection of images from the photographer's various bodies of work. Platinum prints are the sine qua non of photographic art, the most luminous, archival and rare of all forms of photography. They are loved and treasured by collectors and investors for their beauty and permanence.

From mid May INDEXG will present two 2-woman shows opening at the same time: MeiKong/HongKong by My Le Nguyen and Melodie Ng, and Symbolic Ambiguities by Linda Briskin and Kye Marshall. During the artists reception on May 15, Kye Marshall will perform a solo cello concert of original compositions ranging from rhythmic jazz to ethereal meditative (at 8 pm). Using a tape loop recorder and a reverb unit, she will provide accompaniment for herself. Don't miss the date!

May 29 is the wrap up party for CONTACT Photography Festival (at the Gladstone Hotel). It also marks the opening party of Rodrigo Moreno's Preserving The Jungle at INDEXG. Preserving the Jungle originates during Rodrigo's tenure as a resident with his family within the Lawrence Heights Community, a government subsidized area, located at Allen Road and Lawrence Avenue and better known as the “Jungle” by its residents. The photographs span through a decade, bringing back memories, friends and families and shed positive lights on people who are are still living within the area.

Some highlight of INDEXG's evening event in May: May 8 (Thursday) - Concert, 8 pm Tickets $5 Angelusnovus.net presents a concert of trans-local re-mixes commemorating the 5th anniversary of the Deep Wireless radio art compilation CD. Featuring electroacoustic composers: Monica Clorey, Emilie LeBel, Henry Ng, David Ogborn, Jason Stanford, Chris Thornborrow, Hector Centeno, Troy Ducharme and others.
